What happens in the North Pole After Christmas?

Wow! We are already moving into February of the new year! That said, I thought it would be fun to share with you all that is happening at the North Pole, following a very fulfilling Christmas season.

Santa is finally well rested! He spent January relaxing in his favorite chair by the fireplace and was so very happy to read all the thank you notes that the thoughtful little children sent to Santa (and me!) following a very generous season. The twinkle in Santa’s eye and the warmth in my heart remains so bright along with all of the love and joy we felt from so many. We are very appreciative of all the notes, so Thank YOU to all of you who took the time to drop us a heartfelt note!

Our red suits are being cleaned, the buttons strengthened, a couple of tears mended, and then properly stored for the next several months. Santa’s boots have been properly oiled and shined for the next season. Currently he favors his slippers while he lounges around the house. Of course, he did trim up his beard a bit – and we took a little clipping off his hair. Can’t get too shaggy, our Santa!

The elves are also well-rested. This time of the year they play a lot in the snow. Our yard is filled with so many snowmen and snow angels! We surely are blessed with all of their creativity. Really, the only work that is expected of the elves is to exercise the reindeer. It’s important to keep them fit. So, the elves take the reindeer out to play a variety of reindeer games. The elves love to hear all the stories Santa shares as he reads through the notes – they dance around with glee to hear how joyful the little children were upon receiving the gifts they worked so hard to make and about all the happiness following Christmas.

The reindeer have all had their coats brushed and their hooves shined. Did you know they are built for the cold? Their top layer of fur coat consists of hollow, tubular hairs that provide insulation and under that layer they have a thick, wooly undercoat! This keeps them warm all winter long. Come summertime, they will shed those fluffy winter coats. The reindeer continue to eat a healthy meal of carrots, green hay, oats and still nibble on the leftover candy canes! Heck, everyone at the North Pole snacks on the leftover candy canes because next year there will be a whole new batch of candy canes made — possibly with a new flavor or two!

I, Mrs. Claus, feel delighted and warm-hearted from all of the notes written to Santa and all of us here at the North Pole.  It’s always so good to know that the spirit of the season was exuberantly alive and so well received, enjoyed, and appreciated by so many. The delight was experienced by children of all ages as well as adults, especially during the troubling times experienced during 2020. Christmas is a magical season and to know the magic lives through the troubled times, why… it is just heartwarming!

Before I sign off this note, I have a request!

I am compiling a list of books to read and share with all of you fine folk during the 2021 Christmas season. The first book on my list is Leffy’s Christmas Gift, a lovely story written by Lizzie Walkley. I would love to hear from you on any books you think would be delightful to share next season! Send me an email at connect@MyMrsClaus.com

Be good and kind, we’ll see you next time!
